Due to the ever changing COVID19 situation, we will continue to adapt our process. At this time, we are not scheduling public events or meet-and-greets in public. We will move straight to the home visit portion of the process, and we are happy to spend ample time with you there as you get to know the dog you are interested in. We ask that an application is filled out in advance of us setting up a home visit.

If you see a dog on our page who could be a good match for you, send us an email to submit an application and get the ball rolling on a home visit!  Please note that at this time, we are only accepting applicants within approximately 45 miles of Winston-Salem.

For the time being, we will not be holding public adoption events/gatherings, but will resume adoption fairs when it is deemed safe to do so.  In the meantime, we are happy to set up private meet-and-greets for the dogs with an approved application.

April 2020

Sorry to say, the rescue is on hold at this time.  Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we are not scheduling meet-and-greets or home visits for any of our adoptable dogs.  We are also not meeting with people for intake evaluations or bringing new dogs into our program at this time.  Most of our volunteer fosters live in and around Forsyth County and are under "Stay at Home" orders.  When it is safe to do so, we will resume normal activities and will happily schedule times for people to meet our adoptable dogs.

In the meantime, a couple of things to think about:

We know this seems like a great time to adopt due to many of us being home more.  If you are seeking to adopt or have recently adopted, please make sure you think through your plan for after-quarantine life.  When you resume "regular" life and work, will you still have time for your pet?  Are you training with them while you are home?  Are you prepping them by crating or leaving them in a different room for periods of time so that they don't form abnormal attachment issues?  This could later lead to separation issues when you aren't home as much.

If you do feel that this is the right time for you to adopt, check our your local county shelter or humane society.  These organizations are still overflowing with animals.  And they have a better space for industrial cleaning as well as social distancing policies in place to help people remain safe as they browse for new additions to their family.

It's sure to be a great time!  Plus, partial proceeds

from ticket sales will benefit the dogs of Stepping

Stones!  Make sure to come by and see us!  

Adoptable dogs will NOT be present at this event.

We will hold a regular adoption fair next weekend,

January 11, Book Release and Adoption Fair

It's HERE!  The Dogs of Winston-Salem Volume 2 is ready for pick up!

Stop by Joymongers Barrel Hall from 12 - 3 on Saturday, January 11th to pick up your book and meet our adoptable dogs!  We will reveal the front and back covers of the book promptly at 12:30.  The Barrel Hall is located at 480 West End Blvd (Winston-Salem 27101), across the street from Oh Goodness, Fine Portraits.  Street Parking available.
